After a love affair with eclectic mixes of bold patterns and bright colors, we decided to incorporate some ultramodern decor themes into our home. The idea: minimalist structures in sleek, acrylic textures accented by interesting decor pieces. At first glance, ultramodern decor can seem boring. But when done right, it creates an awesome futuristic mood and feels ultra stylish. The trick is in the lighting.

What I love about Indian designers is that they're not afraid to mix patterns and colors in unique, unexpected ways. I loooooove Bianca Balti's makeup in the D&G ads - dramatic 60s style wing-tipped eyeliner set against bronzed cheekbones and black lacquered nails. Really, what's not to love?

This week's home decor post celebrates patterns. In particular, black and white chevron. I love the geometric boldness of black and white chevron. The best thing about this pattern is it provides a great background off which to build other color schemes. This pattern is best on an accent wall, rug, throw pillows, or even curtains and is a perfectly sharp contrast to crisp, bright colors like turquoise, canary yellow, and hot pink.
